Which are good study habits?

Nowadays studying is an important part of our life. We not only study in school, but we study and learn trough the whole life. So, developing good study habits can be really beneficial to us. In this article we will only cover how to develop good study habits and to use them when study for tests or exams.
This article contains some useful tips (habits) for better studying.

Good study habits

Organise your time

You must realize that a whole day only has 24 hours. It is important how to organise them. If you plan your day and make a schedule you can save an hour or two per day. Dedicate some time for studying and some time for yourself – your free time. It’s a good idea to start using planner (a small notebook that fits in your pocket / or start using a phone application) which can help you organise your time.

Study habits

  • Always be prepared for lesson. Carefully follow what the teacher / professor says. Don’t miss classes because you want to be cool. You’re not. You’re only missing important stuff.
  • Get involved in class. Ask questions if you’re unsure what the lecture is about. No one will ask them instead of you.
  • Do your homework or assignment.
  • Keep up studying. Don’t “leave that for tomorrow”. Only more stuff will have to be learned tomorrow. Studying a day or two before the exam is almost a certain disaster.
  • Achievable goals

Don’t overcommit yourself. Always plan your goals so that you can achieve them. If you plan your goals too high you will fail and that is not good for your moral. It doesn’t mean that you cannot achieve that goals – it just means that you are too hard on yourself. Every great journey starts with a simple step. Remember that.

    Concentration

Stay focused while in class. Pay attention to professor. Don’t browse on facebook or send texts. You can do that after. Is it really so important to chat while you are in class? If you found classes really boring try to think of them as a necessary evil – they are boring, but you will benefit from them.

    Make good notes

Always make good notes. We have written an article about this topic. Take a look: How to make good notes. Just bear in mind that notes are really important part of studying. Even if you cannot write everything down what professor says, try to make notes of important stuff. Professor will usually emphasise (with voice or by a hand gesture) an important thing and that is wise to remember it. If you miss the class because you were ill, ask a college to rewrite his notes. They might not be the best for you, but they are better than nothing.

    Homework / assignment

Do the homework / assignment by yourself. Don’t cheat. Take homeworks as a test of what you knowledge is on particular topic. You can really benefit if you do your homework by yourself. You can benefit the most in classes like maths, physics etc.

    Review your notes

Before you start to study make sure to review your notes. You want to have your notes organised. It’s nice to study with organise notes because you don’t lose time with searching for particular topics. After classes make sure to review your notes to add some stuff you still remember, but didn’t had time to write them down during the lecture.

    Motivation

Be motivated by some goal you know you can achieve. Even if you really dislike some classes you have to pass them eventually. Keep in mind that the sooner you pass the test, the better.
