What is Erasmus program?

So, what is erasmus program?

Basically it is a students mobility program which enables students to go studying in foreign countries. It is an European program and it is only intended for eu students. It enables them to stay in foreign country for a period of 4 months to 1 full year. Student choose their lenght of stay. All exams passed during study abroad are evaluated with ECTS points which are valid in all European countries. So if you study in Spain and pass some exams there you bring ECTS points back home with you. Some students use this advantage and pass more difficult exams while they are abroad because the same exams can be easier to pass on some other universities than you university. At least that is what my friends told me.

A brief description of Erasmus program

The Erasmus Programme (European Region Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students), is a European Union (EU) student exchange programme established in 1987. It forms a major part of the EU Lifelong Learning Programme 2007–2013, and is the operational framework for the European Commission’s initiatives in higher education. It is really popular amongst european students and its popularity raises every year. The Erasmus Programme, together with a number of other independent Programs, was incorporated into the Socrates program, established by the European Commission in 1994. The Socrates program ended on 31 December 1999 and was replaced with the Socrates II Programme on 24 January 2000, which in turn was replaced by the Lifelong Learning Program 2007–2013 on 1 January 2007.
