Accommodation on erasmus exchange

One of the biggest worries for everyone going on erasmus exchange is to find an apartment or a place in student dormitory. This is usually a very exausthing process. Students usually look for rooms on internet. The best way though to get a good place to stay is to ask a friend that has already been on erasmus in the city you are going – they will provide you with the best information. Doesn’t matter where you go – Spain, France, Germany, Italy or even a small country like Cyprus or Slovenia – always ask a friend for advice. You have to be very careful when renting an apartment because people will try to trick you in paying more than the room is worth. Always make sure to write down all expenses that you will have to pay for a room and then calculate how high these expenses really are. Will you be close to faculty? Will you have to buy a bus/metro ticket? Always try to find an apartment closest to your faculty. You can even pay a bit more for such accomodation because you will not have buy a ticket everyday. If you are staying on erasmus in winter semester always make sure that the flat you are renting has an adequate heating installed. You don’t want to be freezing in winter right? Another way of staying on erasmus for less money is to go to student dormitory. Always check the university site if they offer dorms. If they do, make sure to make your reservation/application as fast as possible because dorms are usually filled pretty fast.
